Type Locality and Naming
It was named by the Map Compiler
Jingeng Sha (coordinator) Team under the Geological Bureau of Heilongjiang Province in 1975, and was first cited publicly by the Compiler
Jingeng Sha (coordinator) Group for Regional Stratigraphic Chart of Heilongjiang Province in 1979. The naming section is located at Bashiliwan on the right bank of Heilong River, Huma County, Heilongjiang Province. Upward succession of Qilinji Fm, Ershi'erzhan Fm, Mohe Fm and Kaikukang Fm

Lithology and Thickness
This group is composed mainly of conglomerate, sandy conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone, shale and carbonaceous shale, intercalated with coal beds, locally with volcanic clastics. It is about 8700 m to 9000 m in thickness. [See individual formations for details.]
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in an unconformable contact with the underlying pre-Paleozoic or Paleozoic strata and Variscan granite.
Upper contact
Its top part is unconformably overlain by the volcanics of the Xinganling Gr (Tamulangou Fm)
Regional extent
The group is distributed mainly in the area of the upper Heilongjiang depression north of the Yilehuli Mts, with its exposures being found in the areas of the Greater Srovka River, the lower reaches of the Emur River, Lesser Xirgenxi River and Oupu area, stretching in an east-west direction.
